If you want moving pictures,

SJPS can provide. We are a collection of film making and technical geeks. We are passionate about the theories of camera movement, stand in awe at the lighting a good sunset provides, and become totally engrossed in telling stories.

Telling stories is what we do, whether with light, or by moving a camera through a space. SJPS specializes in camera movement via jib arms, steadicams, drones/UAV’s, and stabilizers in the Midwest.

We also believe in the power of teams. Rather than competitors, we see partners and associates. We have a strong network of Directors of Photography, Camera Operators, Editors, Gaffers, etc. Our passion for film making runs deep. We don’t work or consider what we do a job. We play, and we play hard.

Services

Steadicam

After attending the Steadicam Operators Association Workshop a decade ago with Jerry Holway and Garrett Brown, inventor of the steadicam, SJPS became full blown evangelists, preaching the gospel of camera movement. Seriously, we love our steadicams, but not in a weird way.

Aerial

We fly the DJI Inspire 2 Pro with Zenmuse X5S gimbal and camera and the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. FAA Certified and fully insured, we pride ourselves on being cinematographers who are also skilled pilots.

Jib Arm

With over 25 years of jib experience, SJPS offers Jimmy Jib triangle jib arms with a reach of up to 30 feet and full remote pan and tilt heads. A passion for movement drives us to create dynamic shots.

Stabilizers

For more smooth movement, we offer a variety of stabilizers including the Tilta Arm paired with the Ronin 2 on our vehicle mount pictured here.

Editing

Two edit suites driven by seasoned story tellers. Adobe CC is our main platform. When your story counts, you need an editor that can learn your mission and communicate your vision.

Crewing

Looking for a 1st AC? How about craft services, or maybe 10 PA’s. Our network can supply all the experience you require. Kansas City is the fortunate home of passionate film makers and film support crew. Let us introduce you to them.

Our Story

SJPS has been in the Midwest production scene for 30 years.

Our passion for purposeful camera movement and its ability to add to a narrative began when Bill Gilbert gave Scott Jolley an introduction to a Tulip crane in 1990. Our love of camera movement continued to expand in an ever larger vocabulary enhanced by jib arms, steadicams, drones/UAV’s, and stabilizers. The focus is always designing a shot to tell a better story.

You may be familiar with our full name, Scott Jolley Production Services, derived from a time when Scott was a one-man show. While SJPS began with Scott Jolley as an independent contractor, he understood that collaboration with talented partners is key. When we work together, we challenge and learn from each other. Training up and joining forces with others, SJPS now has a strong crew of experienced and talented videographers with a wide skill set in camera movement in the greater Midwest including Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska. We also have a network of Directors of Photography, Camera Operators, Editors, Gaffers, etc. Our passion for film making runs deep. We don’t work or consider what we do a job. We play, and we play hard.

Our gear includes DJI products including the Inspire 2 Pro with Zenmuse X5S camera, Mavic 3 Pro, Mavic Pro, Jimmy Jib Triangle Jib Arms with reach up to 30 feet, Steadicam Clipper with Steadicam G-50 arm, Sony FX9 and Black Magic Ursa Mini Pro camera packages, Panasonic GH5 camera, a variety of gimbals and vehicle mounts and much more. If we don’t have it, we can tell you who does.

Bonus, SJPS is proudly woman-owned. We support diversity in the work place, strive to be intentionally inclusive, and are working toward changing the industry demographic.

Meet the Team

Scott Jolley

Founder and Storyteller

Scott is the hands-on creative of SJPS. He’s the one that can make all those video contraptions move. He loves to share his craft as much as he loves to tell a story. He’s also the author of  India According to Scott published in 2017.

Amanda Jolley

Chief of all things behind the scenes

Majority owner Amanda Jolley is the behind the scenes mechanic that makes sure all the cogs are turning. As an accountant, Amanda naturally took on the role of business and operations manager. When she’s not in the office, she’s painting in her art studio.

Max Jolley

Chief Drone Pilot and Writer

Max is a master drone pilot, jib operator and steadicam operator. When Max is not behind a camera, he’ll most likely be found writing. Go buy his books on Amazon

Yes, that’s a lot of Jolleys in one company. We are the rare family that thrives working together and what each of us brings to the table makes our company more versatile and stronger.  SJPS would not be in existence without the partnership and talent of Team Jolley plus our extensive arm of independent contractors.

Exquisite Corpse collaborative film project

An experiment in creativity, collaboration, and constrained writing.

About the film

In July of 2022, four teams of filmmakers collaborated to make something. Each team was given forty eight hours to create one quarter of a film, but with a hitch:

Nobody knew what the other teams had made.

SJPS presents The Exquisite Corpse, an experiment in creativity, collaboration, and constrained writing. Extending from the art and poetry tradition, all four film teams were given only a tiny glimpse at the section of movie that came before them, and then set about writing a script, shooting, and editing the next piece, only for the process to repeat again. Some teams were composed of members who’d never even met each other before, others were friends who’d known each other for years, and nobody had any idea what they were in for.

The result is a rollercoaster ride, twenty minutes of style, humor, and general silliness!
